“When my Mom couldn’t recognize me and my family any more, I was devastated. I didn’t know how to communicate with her, how to help her or how to explain to my children the odd behavior of their loving Grandma. Also, I couldn’t help but think that I will have the disease one day, as well. I felt guilt, fear and shame. Attending the Educational & Support Group training helped me to understand how we all can continue living well even with the presence of Alzheimer’s decease. I met people in similar situations and learned from their experience. I was able to share specific situations from my daily life and work on them. The benefit was for everyone – for me, my Mom, my whole family.”
